Pipefitter / Steamfitter — Demand is strongest in Alberta and BC, driven by oil sands, LNG, and industrial maintenance shutdowns. UA union signatory shops are the primary employers. Knowing your local and having your H2S Alive and CSTS tickets ready is expected.
Electrician — One of the highest-volume trades in Canada. Commercial and industrial sectors lead hiring. IBEW signatory shops dominate in major metros. Red Seal or provincial JM ticket required for most journeyman postings.
Millwright — Strong demand in resource extraction, forestry, and food processing. Alberta and BC lead postings. Rotating shift work is common. Preventative maintenance experience is a major asset.
Welder — Pipeline and structural welding lead the market. CWB certification is the baseline requirement. Alberta has the highest concentration of postings. Camp-based work with per diem is common for pipeline contracts.
